Aberdeen Train Station

Aberdeen railway station is Scotland's busiest railway station outside of Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is the main railway station serving the city of Aberdeen and is located in the city centre adjacent to Union Square.

The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of a number of automatic ticket machines located outside the ticket office and on the main concourse.

For passengers with time on their hands retail outlets are located in the Union Square complex which can be accessed from the railway station concourse. Outlets available (at the time of writing) include Boots, Costa Coffee, Starbucks and Marks & Spencer. The facilities in the Union Square complex are open late into the evening and include ATM machines and access to the city's bus station.

Aberdeen railway station is operated by ScotRail and offers passengers inter city, regional and local services throughout Scotland and to the rest of the UK. Sleeper trains are also available. Passengers services are operated by First ScotRail, CrossCountry and East Coast.

Newcastle Train Station

Located in the north east city of Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle railway station offers passengers services to destinations including Edinburgh Waverley, Aberdeen, Glasgow Central, Inverness, London King's Cross, Durham, York, Sheffield, Birmingham New Street, Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria and Liverpool Lime Street. It also lies on the Durham Coast Line to Middlesbrough and the Tyne Valley Line to Carlisle.

Newcastle Central railway station (as it is sometimes known as) is operated by East Coast and is located on the East Coast Main Line which connects London, Peterborough, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds, York, Darlington, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Passenger services calling at the station are operated by Northern Rail, East Coast, First TransPennine Express, First ScotRail and CrossCountry.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafes and shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. Parking is available at the station for 469 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day. The underground station provides Metro services to Newcastle Airport, nearby Gateshead, Whitley Bay, South Shields and Sunderland.

Trains cross the River Tyne on one of two bridges. The older High Level Bridge south-east of the station and the King Edward VII Bridge south-west of the station.
