For passengers travelling into Cardiff the station is ideally located close to the Millennium Stadium which is in the city centre.The station has seven platforms and between them offer passenger services to destinations including Ebbw Vale Parkway, Nottingham, Birmingham New Street, Derby, Cheltenham Spa, Swansea, London Paddington, Bristol Parkway, Manchester Piccadilly, Bristol Temple Meads and many other destinations in Wales. All services are operated by Arriva Trains Wales, CrossCountry and First Great Western.Parking is available at the station for 248 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

The station is operated by First Great Western who also operate some of the passenger services calling at the station along with CrossCountry.Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, public wifi, a cafe overlooking the tracks, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. Parking is available at the station for 1,140 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.
