Derby railway station, operated by East Midlands Trains, serves the city of Derby in England and is an interchange between the Midland Main Line, which links London St Pancras to Leeds, and long distance services on the CrossCountry route from Aberdeen to Birmingham New Street, Penzance and Bournemouth. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. Facilities at the station include ATM's, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.Passenger services calling at the station are operated by CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains and Northern Rail. Services offered depart towards London St Pancras International via Leicester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Edinburgh Waverley, Plymouth, Bristol Temple Meads, Reading, Birmingham New Street. Limited services are also available to Aberdeen, Dundee, Bournemouth, Glasgow Central and Guildford.As part of the Midland Main Line electrification project, Derby railway station will be redeveloped in 2017. A seventh platform will be built to the north of the current platforms, and this, along with the current platform 6, will be used solely by London-Sheffield services. CrossCountry services between Birmingham and Sheffield will use the southernmost platforms, with Nottingham-Birmingham trains reversing at the platforms in between.Parking is available at the station for 609 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

It is also the busiest interchange station outside London, with over 5.1 million passengers changing trains at the station annually.
