The station is located in the heart of historic Edinburgh and lies at the northern end of the East Coast Main Line which connects London, Peterborough, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds, York, Darlington, Newcastle and Edinburgh. The station is also the second largest main line station in the UK in terms of area. The largest is London Waterloo.
