About Exeter

Exeter is a city located in Devon in south west England and is the country town of Devon and home to Devon County Council. The city lies in the River Exe and is roughly 40 miles to the north east of Plymouth and 70 miles to the south west of Bristol. The city can trace its origins back to at least Roman times where it was the most south westerly Roman fortified settlement in Britain. The city's Cathedral was founded in the 12th century and became Anglican at the time of the 16th century Reformation.

Exeter has excellent shopping facilities with the High Street being devoted to national chains. Connected to the High Street are three different areas that offer visitors a more varied experience. The Guildhall Shopping Centre has a mixture of national and local stores and finally the Harlequins Centre accommodates many smaller businesses. Smaller streets off the High Street such as Gandy Street also offer a range of independent shops.

About Worcester

Located in the county of Worcestershire, the city of Worcester can trace its history back to Roman times where it started life as a Roman settlement. The city stands on the banks of the River Severn and the Worcester - Birmingham Canal where some moorings are available. Worcester has three main parks: Cripplegate Park, Gheluvelt Park, which was opened as a memorial to commemorate the Worcestershire Regiment's 2nd Battalion after their part in the Battle of Gheluvelt during World War I, and Fort Royal Park which is one of the battle sites of the English Civil War. In addition to the parks the city has a large open area known as Pitchcroft which is located to the north of the city centre on the east bank of the River Severn.

There are also two large woodlands in the city, Perry Wood, at twelve hectares, and Nunnery Wood, covering twenty-one hectares. Perry Wood is often said to be the place where Oliver Cromwell met and made a pact with the devil.
