Leeds Interchange, located at the New Station Street exit, provides onward transport connections, by bus, from the station. Further bus stops are located on Neville Street below the station, as well as around City Square outside the station.

The station provides passengers with services to major cities across the UK and also to many regional destinations across Yorkshire. Destinations available include London, Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Reading, Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter, Liverpool, Hull, Doncaster, Sheffield and York. These services are operated by CrossCountry, East Coast, East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail.

In March 2010, Manchester City Council and Network Rail unveiled plans for a 'Cycle Centre' to provide secure facilities, with maintenance and hire services.
