The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.Facilities at the station include ATM's, bureau de change, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafes, shops, toilets, baby changing facilities and tourist information office.Passenger services departing the station are operated by First ScotRail, London Midland and Virgin Trains. Destinations available include Glasgow Central, Edinburgh Waverley, Birmingham New Street, Preston, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Liverpool Lime Street, Chester, Tring, Milton Keynes Central, Northampton and Watford Junction. The station was renamed as Stockport Edgeley in order to differentiate the station from Stockport Tiviot Dale, which closed in 1967.
