London Liverpool Street Train Station

London Liverpool Street railway station, operated by Network Rail, is a central London railway station located in the north eastern corner of the City of London. It is the terminus of the West Anglia Main Line which runs from London Liverpool Street north through Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Audley End (near Saffron Walden) to Cambridge, with branches serving Hertford and Stansted Airport. It is also the terminus of the Great Eastern Main Line which connects Liverpool Street with destinations in east London and the East of England. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

The station has three main exits: to Liverpool Street, after which the station is named; to Bishopsgate; and to the Broadgate development to the west of the station. The Underground station connects the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, and is in fare zone 1.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, bureau de change, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafes and shops, toilets and baby changing facilities and tourist information office.

Colchester Train Station

Located in Essex, Colchester railway station offers passengers destinations including London Liverpool Street, Manningtree, Ipswich, Lowestoft, Walton-on-the-Naze, Stratford and Norwich.

The railway station, operated by Greater Anglia, is located at the junction of the Sunshine Coast Line to Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton-on-Sea. The station also lies on the Great Eastern Main Line which links London Liverpool Street with Ipswich and Norwich. Passenger services calling at the station are also operated by Greater Anglia.

The station has six platforms and the layout is as follows: Platform 1 is for services to Clacton-on-Sea, Platform 2 is for services to Ipswich and Norwich, Platform 3 is for services to London Liverpool Street (inter city and semi-fast services), Platform 4 is also for services to London Liverpool Street but only for semi-fast services, Platform 5 is for services to Colchester Town and Walton-on-the Naze and Platform 6 is for services to London Liverpool Street that begin at Colchester.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, public wifi, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. Parking is available at the station for 1,358 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

The station was opened in 1843 by the Eastern Counties Railway, and was always named simply Colchester. Locally, the station is known as Colchester North, to distinguish it from Colchester Town. The station is not conveniently sited for the town, but buses connect to the town centre. Colchester Town railway station is closer to the town centre.
