The station is the terminus for East Midlands Trains services from London to Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, and smaller towns en route, and for Eurostar's high speed trains to Paris, Brussels and Lille. First Capital Connect trains on the cross-London Thameslink route call at platforms beneath the main station, south to Gatwick Airport and Brighton and north to Luton Airport Parkway for Luton Airport and Bedford. It is also the terminus for high speed domestic services to Kent, run by Southeastern. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. Facilities at the station include ATM's, bureau de change, First Class Lounge, pay phones, cafes and shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.Passenger services calling at the station are operated by East Midlands Trains, Southeastern, First Capital Connect and Eurostar. The station is operated by East Midlands trains who also operate some of the passenger services calling at the station along with CrossCountry.There are no WC or ATM facilities at the station although there is a cafe. Parking is available at the station for approximately 20 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day. The Derby-Nottingham section of Route 6 of the National Cycle Network passes by the station and provides a traffic free cycle route to the University of Nottingham.The station was built in 1839 for the Midland Counties Railway and services began in 1839. In 1844 the Midland Counties Railway joined with the North Midland Railway and the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway to form the Midland Railway. Beeston was the first station from Nottingham and at the time it was very popular with people from the city who wished to spend a day in the countryside.
