The station lies on the North Wales Coast Line which connects Crewe to Holyhead. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. In its current configuration the station only two platforms are in use although up until the late 1980's there was an additional platform on the south side of the station and another on the north side plus a number of through lines.Facilities at the station include pay phones and toilets. Passengers should note that ATM's and baby changing facilities are not available at the station.Passenger services are operated by Arriva Trains Wales and Virgin Trains. Between them, passengers are offered services that generally depart towards Holyhead, Birmingham International, Cardiff Central, Chester, Wrexham General, Shrewsbury, Llandudno, Manchester Piccadilly, Warrington Bank Quay, Bangor and London Euston.Parking is available at the station for 100 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.
