Abercynon railway station, previously known as Aberdare Junction, serves the village of Abercynon in the Cynon Valley in Wales. First opened by the Taff Railway in 1846 it was renamed "Abercynon" in 1896 and "Abercynon South" in 1988. It is located approximately 16 miles north of Cardiff on the Merthyr Line.
