Birmingham New Street Train Station

Birmingham New Street railway station, managed by Network Rail, is one of three main railway station serving Birmingham city centre. The other two being Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham Snow Hill. The station splays an important role in CrossCountry's national rail network and for Virgin Trains services from London to Glasgow and Edinburgh on the West Coast Main Line.

The station has a staffed ticket office but passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the ticket machines located in the station. Passengers should note that the ticket office is not open on Sundays.

Passenger facilities at the station include ATM's, a First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, food outlets, shops (including Boots, Costa Coffee and W H Smith), toilets and baby changing facilities.

Four escalators currently provide access to the Pallasades Shopping Centre, and there are lifts down to most platforms from the new paid concourse. There are escalators from the concourse down to the 'B' end of each platform (except platform 12). All 12 main platforms, except platform 4c, are through platforms.

Passenger services calling at the station are operated by CrossCountry, Virgin Trains, Arriva Trains Wales and London Midland.

There is a short stay car park at the station for 40 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

Wigan North Western Train Station

Located in Greater Manchester, Wigan North Western railway station offers passengers services to destinations including London Euston, Preston, Carlisle, Glasgow Central, Birmingham New Street, Edinburgh Waverley, Liverpool Lime Street, St Helens Central, Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly.

Wigan North Western railway station is operated by Virgin Trains and is located on the West Coast Main Line connecting London to the West Midlands, the North West, North Wales and the Central Belt of Scotland. Passenger services calling at the station are operated by Northern Rail, Virgin Trains and First TransPennine Express.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, cafe, shops and toilets. Passengers should note that baby changing facilities are not available at the station. Parking is available at the station for 383 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

The station was rebuilt in the early 1970s in a contemporary style. The tracks are above street level and access to the six platforms is via a subway and stairs. Recently the goods lifts were modified to allow public use.
