Huddersfield railway station, operated by First TransPennine Express, serves the West Yorkshire town of Huddersfield and lies on the Huddersfield line between Leeds/Wakefield Westgate and Manchester Victoria station, the Penistone Line and the Caldervale Line. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. The station has 6 platforms in operation. Platform 1 accommodates services towards Manchester and Liverpool. Platform 2 is for services travelling on the Penistone Line and Platform 4 is for stopping services to Leeds, Manchester and Hull. Platforms 5 and 6 are for services to and from Leeds on the Caldervale Line and Platform 8 is for express services towards Leeds, Hull, York and Newcastle Central.

Passenger services calling at the station are operated by First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail. Destinations available include Newcastle Central, Hull, Scarborough, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Airport, Manchester Victoria and Wakefield Westgate.

Adjacent to the station is St Pancras International, the London terminus of the Midland Main Line, Eurostar services to mainland Europe, and high-speed trains to Kent via High Speed 1, and a major interchange for Thameslink services between Bedford and Brighton. The two stations are operationally completely separate, but as they are adjacent, they are regarded as a single complex for interchange purposes.
